Habits & Addictions
Hypnosis for caffeine dependence
Move from need to choice with caffeine.
Caffeine Dependence is a session for anyone who drinks the first cup out of habit rather than choice.
It rehearse a moment where the urge arrives and passes, and it frames the drink as something you might take or leave. The focus stays on your own steady energy throughout.
The afternoon arrives and the first thought is where the next cup comes from. It feels less like a drink and more like a requirement for functioning.
You reach for it because your head is heavy and your hand is already moving, knowing that the jitter that follows is the price you pay for simply feeling normal.
What’s in it
An easy sense of being in charge of caffeine, where the cup is a choice and the urge rises and passes on its own.
Why do it
Choosing over needing is a skill the mind rehearses, so each session makes the next reach easier to let pass and your own steady energy easier to feel.

Perfect use-case: Caffeine Dependence — hypnosis session
The reach for caffeine happens on its own, before the choice has even been considered.
What you’ll hear in the Caffeine Dependence session
The session frames caffeine as an optional choice rather than a requirement, rehearsing a state where the urge rises and settles on its own and your own steady energy is enough.
You are ready to shift from automatic reaching to conscious choosing regarding caffeine, feeling your own steady energy without the requirement of a cup
This is the beginning of an easy sense of being in charge, where that cup becomes a simple option and the urge to reach for it rises and settles all on its own, leaving you feeling perfectly at ease and in control
You begin to imagine a lightness of choice infusing your days, a simple, pleasant freedom where the decision to have a caffeinated drink feels entirely optional
This feeling of choice is now becoming your new normal, a calm and settled state where you are the one making decisions, not responding to an old, automatic signal
There is a growing sense of ease as you recognize this shift, a warm confidence spreading through you as you realize the power is truly in your hands
- shift from automatic reachingframes the change as movement, not loss — a shift, not a stop
- an easy sense of being in chargeimplies control comes naturally, not through effort
- lightness of choice infusing your dayssets choice as a spreading ease, not a decision point
Timeline: Start to Finish
Rehearsal here is the specific practice of watching an urge arrive and then depart. The middle section is built entirely around that single cycle of noticing the feeling and letting it pass.
3 of the 4 stages are named techniques with a published origin, credited under each.

Why this works — and what the research actually says
Group-level, not session-level: no study has tested this exact session, and we will not pretend otherwise. Every source below was opened and read on 2026-08-25 before it was quoted.
Why do it as hypnosis?
Moving from need to choice is a capacity built through rehearsal rather than effort. This builds a specific loop where the urge rises, is noticed, and then settles without you having to act on it.
Nothing is removed from your day; the time is simply used to repeat the pattern of watching a want fade without answering it.
Quitting smoking: the honest answer is that nobody knows yet
Cochrane grades medical evidence for a living. It reviewed 14 trials of hypnotherapy for quitting smoking, covering 1,926 people followed for at least six months.
Its verdict was not that it works, and not that it fails — it was that there is not enough good evidence to tell. If there is a benefit, they say it is small at most.
- 14 randomised trials, 1,926 people, followed six months or more
- Verdict: insufficient evidence either way
- Only 1 of the 14 trials was judged at low risk of bias
Worth knowing: The review rates its own evidence as ranging "from low to very low certainty, as there was not enough information and many of the studies had issues with their designs".
One study was judged at low risk of bias overall, ten at high risk and three unclear. On safety, most studies did not report whether adverse events were even collected.
The exact wording and figures
A Cochrane review pooled 14 randomised controlled trials with 1,926 participants.
Its conclusion: "There is insufficient evidence to determine whether hypnotherapy is more effective for smoking cessation than other forms of behavioural support or unassisted quitting.
If a benefit is present, current evidence suggests the benefit is small at most."
