Hypnosis for forgiveness
Set down what you have been carrying for too long.
This session is for the weight you have carried for too long and the peace it costs you.
It uses the time to rehearse setting that burden down, with no pressure to excuse the wrong or return to the person who caused it. The work is done alone, in your own time.
The memory of an old wrong can sit on your chest long after the event is finished. It comes back when you are trying to work or trying to sleep, costing you time and energy you cannot afford to lose.
You do not have to like what happened to be tired of carrying the weight of it.
What’s in it
A gentle way to set down what you have carried for too long, so the hurt stops costing you your peace.
Why do it
Forgiveness here is for you, in your own time, never to excuse the wrong or force you back to anyone, and it leaves you lighter.

Perfect use-case: Forgiveness — hypnosis session
The old wrong takes up residence in the body long after the event itself is finished.
What you’ll hear in the Forgiveness session
The session names the physical weight of an old hurt as something solid and habitual that the body has adjusted to carrying, then makes it distinct enough to see and slowly set down.
You are ready to set down what you have carried for too long, seeking a peace that costs you nothing more
Now, you can begin to notice the heaviness in your arms, that persistent weight you have grown so accustomed to holding
It feels as real as your own bones, a dense and solid object that pulls downward with a constant, familiar pressure
Your shoulders adjust to it without your permission, and your back subtly arches to accommodate its mass
You may not always remember why you picked it up, only that it is yours to carry
This deep tension lives in your chest, right behind your sternum, making each breath a calculated effort to make space
It is a tight, coiled knot of old stories and echoes that sits upon you, demanding attention even when you try to focus elsewhere
- what you have carried for too longsets the tone for a decision, not a command
- that persistent weightnames the familiar burden without judgement
- tight, coiled knot of old storiesgives a specific shape to the feeling
Timeline: Start to Finish
This build spends the middle minutes rehearsing the act of setting the weight down. The imagery returns to open hands and a quieter chest, giving you time in that state before the session ends.
3 of the 4 stages are named techniques with a published origin, credited under each.

Why this works — and what the research actually says
Group-level, not session-level: no study has tested this exact session, and we will not pretend otherwise. Every source below was opened and read on 2026-08-25 before it was quoted.
Why do it as hypnosis?
You cannot decide to forget, but you can decide what you hold and how you hold it. This settles the body first and then uses repetition to rehearse setting the weight down. It does not ask you to excuse anything.
It is a way of spending time on the idea of an unburdened heart without anything else getting in the way.
What 20 years of meta-analyses actually found
Hypnosis as a whole has been studied a great deal. The strongest results are for pain and for people going through medical procedures, and the quality of the studies varies enormously. Some found large effects.
Some found nothing at all.
- 49 reviews, covering 261 separate randomised trials
- Strongest evidence: pain, and medical procedures
- Study quality is very uneven, and the authors say so
Worth knowing: The same overview rates only nine of those 49 meta-analyses as high methodological quality and 26 of them as critically low, and notes that 28 reported nothing at all about safety.
It is the best map of the field that exists, and it says the field is uneven.
The exact wording and figures
A 2024 overview pooled 49 meta-analyses covering 261 separate randomised controlled trials of hypnosis. Effects ran from d = -0.04 to d = 2.72, and just under two-thirds of the reported effects reached significance.
The strongest evidence was for people undergoing medical procedures and for pain.
An overview of reviews, which is a study of other studies rather than new patients. Useful because it is the widest honest view of where hypnosis has evidence and where it does not.
Three ways to say it
Same goal, written three ways: pick the voice you would believe when the weight has been there so long it feels like your own bones.
Balanced
Honor the hurt, set the weight down in your own time, and free yourself from the hold. The default.
Honor the hurt, then rehearse setting the weight down in your own time, with no pressure to excuse or return.
Future self
Picture the version of you who has already set this down and moves through life lighter.
Picture the version of you whose hands are already open, moving through the day without that familiar grip.
New identity
Step into being someone at peace with their story, with open hands and a quiet, unburdened heart.
Step into being someone whose posture is no longer shaped by the burden, with open hands and a quiet chest.
Questions people ask about Forgiveness
Is this just telling me to forgive and forget?
No. The session is explicit that you are not erasing what happened or excusing the wrong. It works on how you hold the memory, not whether you keep it.
What if I'm not ready to forgive?
The session repeats that this is done in your own time, with no pressure. It rehearses the act of setting a weight down; it does not force the hand open.
How is this different from just deciding to move on?
You cannot decide to forget. The session settles the body first and uses repetition to rehearse release, rather than relying on a single conscious choice.
Will it make me want to contact the person again?
No. The script is clear that forgiveness here never forces you back into any situation. The work is done alone, for yourself.
Where it sits
Other people: the ones you keep, the ones you lost, the ones you avoid.
Before you press play
- This one asks for a bit of care. In the app it opens with a consent step before anything plays.
Hypnosis is not for everyone. If you have epilepsy, a psychotic illness, or you are under psychiatric care, talk to your clinician before using this — here or anywhere.
