Trauma & Past
Hypnosis for shame
Reduce the weight of shame.
Shame Release is a session for the weight that sits in the chest and the urge to hide from it.
The audio works by separating who you are from what you feel, and it spends most of the time rehearsing a kinder voice speaking to you. There is no need to share the details with anyone else.
You do not have to have done something terrible to feel this way. It is the sudden flush in the face when someone is kind, or the urge to hide when you remember a small mistake from years ago.
The feeling sits in the chest like a stone, and it is often easier to carry it than to try explaining why it is there.
What’s in it
A gentle way to set down the weight of shame and meet yourself with the warmth you have always deserved.
Why do it
Shame was never the truth of who you are, and a few quiet minutes here help you feel that, not just hear it.

Perfect use-case: Shame Release — hypnosis session
The feeling of shame is sharpest not in the memory itself, but in the quiet moments that bring it back to the surface.
What you’ll hear in the Shame Release session
The audio describes shame as a heavy stone in the chest and teaches you to observe it as separate from yourself, creating space for a kinder inner voice.
You feel that heavy stone sitting in your chest right now, a dense weight that seems to press down on your very core with every breath you take
This sensation is so familiar, this tight, heavy feeling that makes you want to shrink away from the world, to become small and unseen
It is a physical manifestation of a burden you have carried for far too long, a weight that has settled deep within you and colored your entire experience of yourself
You know this feeling intimately, this urge to hide from others, to pull back into the shadows where you feel you might be safe from judgment
That flush of heat in your face when you remember a small mistake from long ago is a signal from this old wound, a reminder of a pain that has never truly been processed or released
- makes you want to shrink awaynames the physical impulse so it becomes a thing you observe, not a thing you are
- flush of heat in your facepicks a specific body signal, giving the mind a concrete entry point into the feeling
- a signal from this old woundreframes the flush as a message from the past, not a fact about the present
Timeline: Start to Finish
The suggestion block spends most of its time separating you from the feeling. It repeats the idea that the warmth is yours until that distinction feels ordinary rather than something you must argue for.
4 of the 5 stages are named techniques with a published origin, credited under each.

Why this works — and what the research actually says
Group-level, not session-level: no study has tested this exact session, and we will not pretend otherwise. Every source below was opened and read on 2026-08-25 before it was quoted.
Why do it as hypnosis?
Talking about the past does not always move the feeling, and thinking your way out of it usually makes the circle tighter.
This works by keeping you still while the voice repeats a different tone until it sounds like your own.
The mechanism is simple rehearsal: you hear the warmth often enough that the old harsh notes start to seem less like the only truth.
Grief: what the research does not say
Worth knowing: There is no meta-analysis of hypnosis for grief. What exists is case reports.
We are showing you the evidence for grief work in general precisely because the evidence for this session's method specifically does not exist yet.
The exact wording and figures
A systematic review of grief interventions across 12 randomised controlled trials found they reduce grief symptoms from before to after, but were more effective than control treatments in only just over half of those trials.
The review does not examine hypnosis at all.

Three ways to say it
Choose the voice that makes the idea of being at ease with yourself feel like a genuine possibility, not just a nice thought.
Balanced
Separate yourself from the feeling, hear a kinder inner voice, and let the weight lift. The default.
You learn to see the shame as an object you are holding, then practice putting it down.
Future self
Picture the version of you who already carries an easy, unashamed warmth toward themselves.
You picture a version of you who already speaks to themselves with an easy, kind warmth.
New identity
Step into being someone at ease with themselves, with nothing to hide and nothing to prove.
You step into being someone at ease, with nothing to hide and a quiet sense of self.
Questions people ask about Shame Release
How is this different from just talking to a friend?
This session works without you having to explain or justify the feeling to anyone. It is a private process focused on changing your internal tone, not on retelling the story.
What if I fall asleep during the session?
If you fall asleep, you will simply rest. The session is most effective when you are aware enough to follow the words, but deep relaxation is still a useful outcome.
Do I have to believe this will work?
No. You only need to listen and follow the instructions. The process is based on rehearsal, not belief, and it proceeds whether you are sceptical or not.
Will this erase bad memories?
No. The aim of this session is to lessen the emotional weight you carry about past events, not to remove the memories themselves. You will still remember what happened.
How long until I feel lighter?
People notice different things at different times. Some feel a shift in how they talk to themselves after one session, for others it is a more gradual change over many sessions.
Where it sits
Old material, approached slowly and with a safe place built in first.
Before you press play
- This one asks for a bit of care. In the app it opens with a consent step before anything plays.
- Not the right session right now if any of these are live for you: active thoughts of suicide or self-harm.
- A Personal Sanctuary block is added automatically before the suggestion, so there is somewhere stable to be first.
Hypnosis is not for everyone. If you have epilepsy, a psychotic illness, or you are under psychiatric care, talk to your clinician before using this — here or anywhere.
