Trauma & Past

Hypnosis for remembering your past kindly

Revisit what was good, and leave the rest where it is.

You can lean toward the warm parts of your history without having to disturb anything that hurt. It is built for a life that feels like a list of injuries and spends its time on scenes that already went well.

The aim is to let them stand as they are.

Most lives feel longer in the difficult parts. You can go weeks without noticing the ordinary good, but one sharp moment from a decade ago will sit in the front of your mind as if it just happened.

It is not that the rest of the story is gone, but that the mechanism for recalling it defaults to the injuries.

What’s in it

The warm parts of your own history, felt again and available to you, with everything else left undisturbed.

Why do it

Memory leans toward what hurt, and deliberately visiting the good is how a life starts to read as a life rather than a list of injuries.

Perfect use-case: Remember Your Past Kindly — hypnosis session

The hard parts of a history take up all the room, leaving the good scenes out of reach.

Scrolling through old photosbracing for what they trigger
Telling someone your backgroundrecounting only what went wrong
Sunday eveningthe whole past feels like damage

What you’ll hear in the Remember Your Past Kindly session

The script frames difficult memories as something that simply sit in the background, then directs attention toward the scenes that went well, letting the rest fade without being forced or denied.

You carry a heavy load of difficult memories that seem to overshadow everything else in your mind, leaving the warm parts of your history feeling distant and hard to reach

There is a way to tilt that balance back toward the light, allowing you to revisit the good moments without needing to disturb the difficult ones that rest quietly in the background

You can let your attention drift slowly toward the scenes that already went well, finding a safe and gentle harbor within your own story

As you focus on these pockets of warmth, your mind begins to settle into a rhythm that naturally favors the good, letting the rest fade softly into the distance

This shift does not require you to force anything to change or to deny what was hard, but simply to notice what was true and kind with a fresh perspective

  • carry a heavy load of difficult memoriesacknowledges the weight of the past without dismissing it
  • tilt that balance back toward the lightsuggests a gentle, deliberate redirection of focus
  • attention drift slowly toward the scenesencourages a natural, unhurried shift in perspective

Why this works — and what the research actually says

Group-level, not session-level: no study has tested this exact session, and we will not pretend otherwise. Every source below was opened and read on 2026-08-25 before it was quoted.

Why do it as hypnosis?

You cannot simply decide to forget, and you cannot force a memory to change its tone. What you can do is visit the good on purpose, with attention held in place for long enough that the association strengthens.

This provides that visit without the usual drift, letting you practise looking at the warm parts until the retrieval path for them works more automatically.

Grief: what the research does not say

Worth knowing: There is no meta-analysis of hypnosis for grief. What exists is case reports.

We are showing you the evidence for grief work in general precisely because the evidence for this session's method specifically does not exist yet.

The exact wording and figures

A systematic review of grief interventions across 12 randomised controlled trials found they reduce grief symptoms from before to after, but were more effective than control treatments in only just over half of those trials.

The review does not examine hypnosis at all.

Three ways to say it

Same goal — finding the warm parts of your own history — written in three voices, so you can pick the one you would actually believe.

Balanced

Revisit what was good, and leave the rest where it is. The default.

Revisits the warm scenes directly, letting the difficult ones stay where they are without disturbance.

Future self

Picture the version of you who is at peace with your own history.

Shows you the version who has already stopped leading with the injuries.

New identity

Step into being at peace with your own history, starting now.

Steps into the position of someone whose history reads as a life, not a list of harms.

Questions people ask about Remember Your Past Kindly

Does this make painful memories harder to access?

No. It strengthens the path to good memories; the difficult ones stay where they are and can still be recalled if needed.

What if I can't find any good moments to focus on?

The session uses small, ordinary scenes — a quiet morning, a brief laugh — rather than grand events. If nothing surfaces, the practice simply has less to work with this time.

Is this just positive thinking or forcing gratitude?

No. It does not ask you to reframe what hurt or pretend it was good. It only asks you to visit what was genuinely warm, leaving the rest exactly as it is.

Will this work if I'm sceptical about hypnosis?

Scepticism does not block the mechanism. The session is a structured way of holding attention on specific memories; the drift toward them works whether you believe in the process or not.

Where it sits

Old material, approached slowly and with a safe place built in first.

Before you press play

  • This one asks for a bit of care. In the app it opens with a consent step before anything plays.
  • Not the right session right now if any of these are live for you: unresolved trauma not yet worked through with a professional; pTSD or flashbacks; recent bereavement.
  • A Personal Sanctuary block is added automatically before the suggestion, so there is somewhere stable to be first.

Hypnosis is not for everyone. If you have epilepsy, a psychotic illness, or you are under psychiatric care, talk to your clinician before using this — here or anywhere.
